There are Five major types of prayer that we learn from 1 Timothy 2:1. There are as many as 12 different types but there are 5 fundamental types. Supplication can divided into two groups, which are Request and Deprecation. The first type is Requests, these are the most common type of prayer used. This is where we ask God for what we need and want. Every request must be made to the Father in the Name of Jesus. The second type is Deprecation. This is a petitioning to God and it means to speak disapproval of. The third type is Prayers and this means to pour out to God. The Greek word is "Proseque", which means to pour out. When you pour out - God fills you. The fourth type is Intercession. Intercession is the Holy Spirit praying through us for others. The fifth type is Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is telling of His Name.
